Director of Tax Data & Technology Strategy
The Director of Tax Data & Technology Strategy (DTS) is responsible for defining and leading the Data & Technology roadmap for Tax. You will lead and oversee (a portfolio of) complex global tax matters that span across multiple departments and technologies, domains and/or geographies. You will have an end-to-end responsibility from scoping the data and technology issue/challenge (incl. budgeting) to the overall solution (execution and implementation, often in close partnership with our Product & FinTech colleagues), including senior stakeholder management.
The role is required to keep a constant focus on potential changes within and outside the company, in order to be ahead of any tax technology-related matters and to proactively guide the business through its (strategic) decision making. You will prepare the company as much as possible for the future, by closely following and pro-actively acting upon new laws and other tax developments, in the media and at a political level, and in full alignment with your peers. In addition, you need to have a deep understanding of business/industry needs and develop and validate innovative solutions to support these needs in a practical and results oriented manner. You are able to understand the details, but focus on the bigger and more complex picture.
You will be part of the Tax leadership team and report directly into our VP of Tax who heads the Booking.com Tax department. The Booking.com tax department currently consists of 45 colleagues and is structured along a business partnering (Accomodations & Trips) as well as a subject matter expertise axis (VAT, Transfer Pricing, Governance - Compliance - Controversy, and Data & Technology Strategy). You will lead a team made up of Project/Program management as well as Tax experts.
Key Responsibilities:
You Will:
- Be end to end responsible for all tax Data & Technology matters of the company
- Develop a future-proof vision on our Tax technology strategy, through a.o. benchmark/networking with the industry to continually refine our own Tax approach and the Data & Technology Strategy specifically. Implement that vision through your and other functions’ teams.
- Supporting business growth by encouraging your team(s) to have a deep focus and understanding of the business needs, and develop and validate innovative (tax technology) solutions
- Support with setting the Tax strategy and priorities for the tax department
- Contribute to forming the company’s stand on tax policy, including participation at policy events (OECD etc.)
- Given the interaction with senior leadership stakeholders on complicated and strategic topics, strong communication skills are key. You are expected to provide world class support and answers to questions from stakeholders of the company, Booking Holdings, other brands, our Auditors and the Audit Committee in a fast and helpful manner. Networking is key and you need to be comfortable engaging with the highest executives within our company.
