Job Summary: A Medical Secretary plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to medical professionals and healthcare facilities. This position requires a combination of strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle various administrative tasks efficiently. Medical secretaries act as a bridge between medical staff, patients, and other departments, ensuring smooth communication and workflow within the healthcare setting.
- Medical Records Management: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. This may involve electronic health records (EHR) management or traditional paper-based filing systems.
- Transcription and Documentation: Accurately transcribe medical notes, reports, and other documentation dictated by healthcare professionals. Ensure that records are properly organized and accessible when required.
- Administrative Support: Perform general office duties such as handling incoming and outgoing mail, managing office supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Medical Coding: Familiarity with medical coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) to correctly assign codes to diagnoses, treatments, and procedures for billing purposes.
