You will work within a team of process, equipment, and reliability engineers to assess and develop necessary toolsets and metrology to achieve these objectives. You will work on projects from design, process development, and reliability testing at a laboratory scale to implementation in high-volume manufacturing. This will require optimizing robust processes through rigorous characterization and statistical validation.

Role Accountabilities:
Lead strategically on the PV glass materials and mechanical designs of existing and next-generation solar panels
Evaluate and simulate the value proposition of any PV glass materials and whether they meet the product requirement in efficiency, cost, weight, reliability, and quality
Build prototypes and execute experiments in the laboratory, at production sites, and at vendor sites using techniques such as statistical design of experiments to verify the predicted benefits or issues
Analyze data to form conclusions, plans for next experiments, and recommended decisions and present them clearly and concisely
Own projects from initial development through transfer to high volume manufacturing and collaborate with cross-functional team of PV module engineers, cell scientists, reliability engineers, Ops, and product Managers
Support 8Ds of production issues and integrate new learnings into future designs

Minimum Education and Experience:
B.S degree in Engineering and 3-5 years of related experience OR M.S. degree and 1-3 years’ experience OR Ph.D
Experience with developing and reliability testing of module materials a plus

Specialists in PV Glass or manufacturing is a plus
Process development and/or reliability testing experience in solar photovoltaics, batteries, or semiconductor industries

Experience with:
Materials characterization and failure analysis on PV glass: Anti-reflective coating, physical or chemical tempering, porosity, uniformity, float glass, low Fe glass, glass warping, glass soiling, Silicon oxide, glass patterning, impact resistant glass, UV-vis spectrometer, glossmeter, contact angle measurement, ellipsometry, colorimetry, SEM, FTIR
Engineering statistics and statistical software (e.g. JMP)
Design of Experiment (DOE)
Statistical process control (SPC)
Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
Writing code for analyzing and fitting data – (ex. Python, matlab, JMP)
Document management system: Bill of Material (BOM), and Engineering Change (EC) Process
