The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.


About the Business Unit

Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures offenders are safely and securely managed and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Community Operations and Parole is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes the Parole Central Unit, CCS Practice Development and Review Branch, Statewide Community Work and Partnerships team, Offender Management Development Branch, Court Assessment and Prosecutions Services (CAPS) Central Unit and the Adult Parole Board Secretariat. CCS review and investigation activities, monitoring and reporting and a suite of operational projects are also functions undertaken within Community Operations and Parole.

About the Role

The Project Officer is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of CAPS within CCS. Reporting to a Senior Project Officer, the Project Officer will provide project support to the CAPS Central Unit team, performing a range of functions including management of the Higher Court Contravention process, project planning, research and analysis on complex queries and criminal procedure, liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and the preparation of correspondence, briefings and reports. Record management, monitoring, reporting and data analysis will also be a focus of this role.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Administer and support procedural requirements for the prosecution of Community Corrections Order contraventions in the Higher Courts by managing the Higher Court Contravention process.
  • Provide project management in line with structured methodology, standards and frameworks and including secretariat functions, the preparation of material for a range of different stakeholders and the implementation of project outcomes.
  • Maintenance of high-level record management, monitoring, and reporting.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Sound knowledge of Victorian government administrative processes and/or legal process.
  • Knowledge and/or experience relating to the corrections environment, particularly CCS (desirable).
  • Knowledge and experience of court operations and processes as related to Community Correction Orders (desirable).

Qualifications

  • Relevant project management or Community Correctional Services experience is highly desirable
