About the role
We’re seeking Network Support Officers to work within our control rooms. As a Network Support Officer you will be monitoring CCTV, traffic and business systems to ensure that in the instance of an event or accident, you take proactive measures promptly which minimise the impact, and maximise safety on our roads and tunnels.

You’ll join an innovative team, who remain calm and confident under pressure, and are constantly identifying appropriate actions to be undertaken to ensure safe and quick resolutions.

Day-to-day, you will:
  • Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels
  • Maintain current awareness of the Emergency Response procedure and ensure it is followed at all times in the event of an emergency
  • Liaise with Emergency Services as required to ensure that incidents are managed in accordance with relevant procedures. Your curious mind will drive you to think bigger, and find new ways to improve our processes, traffic management, and make recommendations
  • Liaise with the maintenance teams regarding maintenance activities to assist the availability of traffic lanes or equipment
  • Ensure any hazards, debris, abandoned or stationary vehicles are promptly, and safely handled, as per relevant procedures, processes and training

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
  • Quick thinking and problem-solving skills to manage incidents and resources, while staying calm in high pressure and stressful situations
  • Proficient use of standard computer programs and an ability to learn unique IT systems quickly
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Available to work a 24x7 roster based on business requirements Flexibility to work hours during peak workload demands as required
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as required
  • Confident in multi-tasking in a high speed, high volume traffic management environment whilst monitoring numerous data sources, recording information accurately whilst calmly liaising with road network users, emergency services and other groups
  • A current driver’s license and transport to our control room sites
